Scrivenations

I've invested in Scrivener—what I've come to see as the best project-based writing program for the Mac—dusted off my FanFiction.Net account and some of my really old Pokémon fan fiction manuscripts, and have started writing away again. My current project coincides with my other project of playing through all of the Pokémon games for Game Boy again; basically, a unique re-telling of the stories of certain trainers, such as the one from Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, which I still think is the best and most underrepresented storyline in the Pokémon series.

But boy is it going to be a doozy to write. Dividing it up into what seems like reasonable sections, I'm looking at probably 5 books (an arbitrary separation—think more like each of the six "books" within The Lord of the Rings instead of the separated published volumes), at least 10 chapters apiece, for the whole story of Pokémon G/S/C. And that's with absolutely no clue as to word count, but the prologue alone was over 1,000 words. Thankfully this'll probably be the longest one by a wide margin, but that's still enough to make me wonder if I know what I'm getting myself into. And yes, I am planning on writing several others like it as a series of sorts.

I'll be publishing them both on my FF.net account (linked above) and here, so keep an eye out; so as to keep a somewhat regular release schedule, I'll be uploading chapters not as I finish them, but as I finish the following chapter—as in, chapter one goes up when I finish chapter two. I'm hoping to finish a chapter every three to four weeks, but if I fall behind on finishing a chapter, I'll go ahead and upload the one before it, then work my arse off to finish it and get back on schedule with the next chapter.

Current status: the prologue is done, awaiting editing by a version of me that isn't forcing my eyelids to stay open on pure adrenaline and caffeine at 2:30 in the morning. Chapter one will hopefully be done in the next three to four weeks, as I said, and subsequent chapters hopefully following the same pattern. I'll mention how things are going on here every once in a while, and slightly less frequently on my FF.net bio page, because if you'll make the effort to visit my actual site then I just love you that much more.

And now, to bed. I'm never going to get myself back on a regular sleep schedule if I keep this up.
